Watertown vs. Waukesha South - 11am

Matchup Notes:

Watertown is 0-3 at the Slam at the Dam Event and is searching for its first victory since the event started in 2022. Waukesha South is making its second appearance in the event as they fell to Hartford 77-71 in 2024. In the all time series, the two schools have split victories (1-1) and have not matched up since the 2019-2020 season.

The Players to Watch:

Watertown: Mac Hayes (5-8 Jr. 8.6ppg), Landon Washetas (6-4 Jr. 7.0ppg), Cal Timmel (6-4 Jr. 2.2ppg)

Waukesha South: Jordan Garcia (6-1 Jr. 7.0ppg), Keegan DeGeorge (6-0 Jr. 6.8ppg)

Prediction: Waukesha South 65, Watertown 61

Monona Grove vs. Hartford - 12:45pm

Matchup Notes:

Monona Grove has not played in this event and will look to knock off Hartford for the first time ever in the Slam at the Dam. The Orioles are 3-0 for former Beaver Dam assistant and current Head Coach Chris Smith and have previously beaten Watertown, Madison Memorial, and Waukesha South. Hartford and Monona Grove have never matched up. Hartford runs a high powered dribble drive offensive system, while MG will feature a motion based offense with great ball movement and shooting.

The Players to Watch:

Hartford: Sam Richter (6-3 Sr. 14.0ppg), Alex Kuepper (5-11 Jr. 14.5ppg), Ethan Webb (6-2 Jr. 9.0ppg)

Monona Grove: Austin Luchetti [INJURED] (6-6 Jr 15.5ppg), Jayden Jackson (6-8 Fr.), Henry Thome (6-4 Jr. 3.4ppg)

Prediction: Hartford 64, Monona Grove 61

Seymour vs. Lake Mills - 2:30pm

Matchup Notes:

Lake Mills is 3-0 in the Slam at the Dam and Seymour makes its first appearance. Lake Mills and Seymour have never squared off. In my preseason rankings, I have Lake Mills ranked at #3 and Seymour ranked at #4. This should be one of the better matchups of the day. Lake Mills and Seymour run great motion based offense and this game should feature a ton of scoring from different highly talented players.

The Players to Watch:

Seymour: Kyler Marks (6-4 Sr. 21.2ppg), Issac Feske (6-3 Jr. 14.5ppg), Jordan Krause (11.1ppg)

Lake Mills: Brady Benish (6-1 Sr. 12.0ppg), Tyler Wollin (11.6ppg), Collin Christian (6-3 Jr. 3.9ppg)

Prediction: Lake Mills 76, Seymour 70

Slinger Vs. Waupun - 4:15pm

Matchup Notes:

Waupun is 1-1 at this event while Slinger is 2-0. Slinger and Waupun have not matched up in the last twenty years. Slinger is a gold ball contender this season while Waupun must replace a large senior class that won back to back ECC conference titles. Slinger has the best brother duo in the state of Wisconsin, while the Warriors run a great 5 out motion based offense and aggressive no middle defense.

The Players to Watch:

Waupun: Finn Katzenberger (6-1 Jr.) Gage Stelsel (6-5 Sr. 5.9ppg), Owen Kloosterboer (6-2 So.)

Slinger: Jack Kohnen (6-6 Jr. 23.1ppg) Joey Kohnen (6-4 So. 10.8ppg) Bryson Fogle (6-1 Sr. 9.6ppg)

Prediction: Slinger 71, Waupun 53

Freedom vs. Lakeside Lutheran - 6:00pm

Matchup Notes:

Former Beaver Dam assistant coach Andrew Gibbons (Freedom) has not coached yet in this event and Lakeside Lutheran has also not participated in this event. The two teams have not matched up in the last twenty years. Both teams have a history of postseason success and are poised to make deep runs in the postseason this year. Freedom is the returning D3 runner up and Lakeside Lutheran fell to down the street rivals, Lake Mills in the regional final last season. Donovan Davis vs. Wes Rahn is must see basketball Saturday.

The Players to Watch:

Freedom: Donovan Davis (6-8 Jr. 22.7ppg), Kaden Vandenburg (6-1 Jr. 10.3ppg), Cal Calhoon (5-9 Jr.)

Lakeside Lutheran: Wes Rahn (6-8 Jr. 20.1ppg), Brady Wolfram (6-4 Sr. 9.8ppg), Brecken Jimenez (6-4 Sr. 3.3ppg)

Prediction: Freedom 61, Lakeside Lutheran 58

Beaver Dam vs. Monroe - 7:45pm

Matchup Notes:

Beaver Dam has not lost in their own event (3-0) , while Monroe has not made an appearance. This matchup is a former Badger Conference matchup as the Cheesemakers left the Badger Conference to join the Rock Valley Conference in basketball in the 2023-2024 season. Beaver Dam leads the all time series 3-1 against Monroe. Monroe traditionally has had a lot of size, while Beaver Dam has a long history of developing highly successful lead guards. Head Coach Tim Ladron is three victories away from the 250 milestone and enters his 18th season at Beaver Dam.

The Players to Watch:

Beaver Dam: EJ Salettel (6-3 Sr. 17.3ppg), Parker Blank (5-11 Sr. 12.4ppg) Isaiah Yuenger (6-5 Jr. 12.1ppg)

Monroe: Logan Taylor (6-5 Sr. 17ppg), Mekhi Brown (5-11 Sr. 15.8ppg), Marcus Ott (6-3 Sr. 9.7ppg)

Prediction: Beaver Dam 68, Monroe 60
